In September 2014 we completed our introduction of the Accelerated Reader Programme for our Year 7, Year 8 and selected Year 9 students.

The programme allows students' Reading Ages to be accurately assessed using a computer based test (which uses adaptive software). Testing takes place at the beginning of the school year and then termly.

 

Following the results of the test, the students are given a level to work from and are encouraged to choose various books within the level to read at home, and within the reading English lessons and mentor time.

The students are then able to complete an online quiz for their book and are given a percentage mark. The quiz not only tests their reading ability but also their comprehension.
