HCC Art Displayed at the Burton Art Gallery

On Thursday 9th February some students from Year 9 and a select few GCSE Art students took a trip to the Burton Art Gallery to see the annual Schools Exhibition.

It was a great experience to see art from Holsworthy Community College displayed in a local gallery, alongside pieces from other local schools. Year 9 students were inspired to take up GCSE art and the Year 11 students had a great opportunity to gather ideas for their upcoming art exam.

We saw artwork from the pop art culture and a lot of portraits were on display as well as brightly coloured collages.

"It was a great feeling to see my work in a public setting, where people can come and see local schools’ achievements. At the gallery there is a separate room for the secondary schools to display their art, then another room for other local artists, with a nautical theme. Upstairs there is a museum where we saw a different media of artwork, with clay sculptures and ceramics on display.

It was a thoroughly good day out, full of inspiration and overall a great experience."
